Configuring using My Freecycle
From MemberPlugin
(Redirected from Advanced Configuration)
You only need to read this if you can't just one of the standard configurations. See Configuring Your Group's Preferences.
You won't have access to all the plugin features if you do this - but it will avoid having to change configuration in two places.
If you want to change your configuration, then the easiest way to do that is via My Freecycle. There are three steps to this:
- Get yourself made a Lead Moderator on your group. Talk to your GOA about this.
- Configure your message settings. You do this by logging in to My Freecycle, then choosing Moderate->Group Name->Message Maker Prefs.
- Change the group description to point at My Freecycle's version. Read on for how to do thst.
If you manage your group and go to Message Maker Prefs, at the bottom of a page is a link which will look a bit like this:
http://www.freecycle.org/group/United Kingdom/Scotland/Edinburgh/mmprefs
...though obviously adjust this for the name of your group. In that case, what you'd put in the group description would be:
<A href="http://www.freecycle.org/group/United Kingdom/Scotland/Edinburgh/mmprefs"
name="memplugin"></A>
Apply that change, and you can now edit your preferences via My Freecycle, and users of the plugin will see the change.
My Freecycle doesn't let you turn on having a footer in the mail, so you won't be able to identify mails from the plugin. I've asked Richard to expose that field.
If you don't use My Freecycle, or want to do something else, then you'll need to look at More Advanced Configuration. This is pretty complex stuff, though.
