If you see a popup about cookies, see here.
If you've got any anti-virus or security software installed, try disabling it temporarily to see if it makes a difference.
If you're a moderator on a group and it works on Firefox but not Internet Explorer, make sure you're not using a service like tinyurl to refer to your preferences.
Then take a look at Known Problems to check it's not something we already know about.
